Kerry Logistics merger with SF Express

Earlier this year, courier giants, SF Express and Kerry Logistics announced their intention to merge the two organisations to gain substantial expansion opportunities. When announced in February, the collaboration created quite a buzz on the stock exchange. Shares in SF Holding rose by 10% in Shenzhen, helping it surpass FedEx Corp in value. While Kerry Logistics shares rose in value by 55.5% within the first few days of February – creating a record high for the organisation.

Chinese logistic giant SF Express forms new collaboration with Kerry Logistics

SF Express is one of the largest packaged delivery services in mainland China and Hong Kong. The company’s growth has been driven, in part, by the popularity of online shopping in China thanks to organisations such as Alibaba Group Holdings and JD.com Inc.

Kerry Logistics is controlled by Malaysia’s richest person, Robert Kuok Hock-nien. Its clients include high-end fashion brands, food and beverage distributors, electronics manufacturers and consumer goods companies. Given the nature of its clients, Kerry Logistics offers a broad range of services such as air freight, trucking and ocean cargo services, customs brokerage and cross-border logistics.

With this new collaboration, it’s easy to see the benefit each organisation will gain from the merger.
